Ben Wyvis Hotel

The hotel reception was excellent--warm, friendly to me and my dogs, informative, and called in a late reservation for dinner that same night. The restaurant was fantastic. I am coeliac, so I am always leery of hotel restaurants in rural locations, but WOW! This was five star chef food--I had a venison stew, chicken with tarragon gravy (? something different but delicious), and gammon steak with some delicious sauce as well. All served with potatoes and Scottish root veg. I would come back just for the food alone! I had breakfast there every day too (not as nice as the dinners because there was nothing but GF toast as a substitute--no sausage, gravy, rolls, pastries, etc). So I just had eggs, bacon, and toast. Also, there was a young server/host that was just a natural at hospitality. He remembered me, always smiled, always remembered that I was coeliac, and was extremely efficient. I gave him a nice tip personally. One expects professional hospitality from hotel staff; but Ben Wyvis has employees from the front desk, to the dining room, to the cleaners and maintenance people that make guests feel like important visitors in a family owned mansion. I could not recommend this place higher.

The location of the hotel is close to amenities but the grounds around the hotel make it feel very rural. The view from our room is spectacular and the room is spacious with a huge comfortable bed. We stayed in a superior room, The staff are lovely and very friendly, especially George in the bar, who makes friends with every dog, Dog friendly everywhere except the dining room.

Booked this hotel as a stop off on the way to Ullapool for ferry, the night we stayed was during a weather warning with rain, and lord did it rain, from check in to check out it was great. We left early to catch ferry mainly for any issues on the roads with the rain and snow was expected. so I can't comment on breakfast as we missed it due to weather, but personally I would say its well worth the money, and the bar staff was amazing, my grandson wanted a mars bar what they didn't sell, she came back with a selection box, I will always remember this hotel as its the first place I managed to split the G (if you know you know) overall great stay and I would recommend and I would go back

Welcoming staff, very clean comfortable room. Decor a little dated but at the price I wasn't bothered and it was perfect for my needs. Decent size for single room, even had bath in the bathroom which was a bonus. Quiet in the evening, very restful (thought I'd be woken by creaky floors but never heard any other guests noise).

The hotel was a proper old fashioned Scottish hotel. It was a bit tired in places but was full of charm and little nooks to sit in. The rooms were big and had all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was good and the porridge was great. As we stayed for a few days, we had a volume of dinners and the food was tasty and well presented. Mae was a great waitress and always made sure we had everything we needed.
